A Latin body,
Gender dissident,
Trans non-binary,
Can I be in accounting?
I enter the classroom,
My name is on the roll call,
They say it out loud,
My pronouns are disrespected.
Why is it so difficult to include me?
Denying my existence
Will not affirm yours.
In the city of definitions,
I don't have an address.
They look at me from head to toe,
Their gazes say a lot.
When I speak, I'm interrupted,
When I write, I'm not read,
Constantly excluded.
I'm not a monster,
I'm not evil,
I want to exist with dignity,
Without fear of evil.
I insist,
I remain,
Others will come,
And I'll be here,
With open arms waiting for them.
I don't know their names,
Nor their stories,
But I will be here,
Making sure they are respected.
My body is political,
My presence is subversive,
I invite you to believe.
In safe and inclusive spaces.
This is why I'm here,
And this is what I'm going to fight for.
