Purpose

This article leads the debate on how artificial intelligence (AI) helps born-global entrepreneurs in India to improve their performance and on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (EO), global technology competence (GTC), product differentiation (PD) and product quality (PQ). Globalization has now accelerated, and learning how each of these factors contributes to international success is imperative for the Indian entrepreneur.

Design/methodology/approach

This study uses a comprehensive empirical analysis that incorporates structural equation modeling to identify the important relationships among these variables.

Findings

The findings demonstrate that EO triggers innovation and risk-taking activities towards global opportunities. The main findings suggest that increases in GTC enhance the consumption of AI thus improving PQ and PD and thereby enhancing competitiveness in the international market. This study further illustrates that AI can mediate between technological advancements and entrepreneurial success by illustrating the linkage between these two concepts.

Originality/value

This study contributes to the literature on Born Global theory through valuable implications in terms of how policymakers and entrepreneurs leverage AI for superior performance in light of the global landscape. The research underscores the transformative potential of AI as a trend in structuring the future course of born-global entrepreneurship in India.
