Nanoscience of cementitious materials is at its initial stages and several research activities are being performed in the field. Researchers are trying to understand the hydration mechanism of Portland cement at the nanoscale. Attempts are being made to prepare cementitious materials of nanodimensions using various techniques. Various nanodimensional supplementary cementitious materials are being added to concrete in order to enhance the strength and durability.
