Teaching for Justice with Technology Assignment Instructions

Objectives Explore lessons focused on facilitating students’ understanding of diversity, justice, and action Integrate student-centered technology into a pre-existing lesson plan focused on diversity, justice, and/or action Create materials to support student learning for a pre-existing lesson plan focused on diversity, justice, and/or action
Create 1–2 materials/resources to support your selected lesson: For example, you might create: a student handout made in Google docs, student manipulatives, an example student creation, a rubric or checklist for the lesson, a student instruction sheet for how to set up/ use the technology, a Padlet board where students will post their work, bulletin board materials, Powerpoint slides for direct instruction, a parent letter created with Canva, etc. It is okay to create physical materials (not digital). If so, you can take a photo of them to submit.
Write a summary of the tech-ified, justice-oriented lesson. Address: Include a link to your original lesson (the low tech version from Learning for Justice, Morningside, or Derman-Sparks et al) What will students do? What will the teacher(s) do? What technology will be used? What social justice standards will be addressed? What International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE, 2024) student standards will be addressed?
