The terms used to describe participants’ academic and practical experiences are defined as follows: “Academic experiences” refer to those participants who have pursued an MPhil (3 years) or PhD (6 years) degree in graduate school. “Practical experiences” pertain to participants who have previously worked as frontline teachers, directors of educational research affairs or principals before assuming KYY positions. “Pracademic experiences” describe participants employed as KYYs at both the district and municipal levels within Shanghai’s educational system. “N/A” means participants had no such kind of working experiences
