Eastern China includes 11 provinces (or provincial-level cities): Beijing, Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, Hebei, Jiangsu, Liaoning, Shandong, Shanghai, Tianjin and Zhejiang. Middle China includes 8 provinces: Anhui, Heilongjiang, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Jilin and Shanxi. Western China includes 11 provinces (or provincial-level cities): Chongqing, Gansu, Guangxi, Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Xinjiang and Yunan. Industry categories are identified by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC). The variables are all reported in ten thousand
