USC PDS network terminology

Term	Definition/Explanation
PDS Administrator	The school-based administrator who assists the PDS Clinical Adjunct and PDS Liaison to enact the school’s PDS goals
PDS Clinical Adjunct	The school-based teacher or administrator who leads collaboration with the PDS Liaison
PDS Fellow	A school-based teacher or administrator with a doctoral fellowship for USC’s EdD program. PDS Fellows contextualize their dissertations within their PDS. In return, they receive broad support from the PDS Network
PDS Focus Group	A group of teacher leaders, meeting as a professional learning community, who serve two functions. First, they steer the goals of the PDS Partnership. Second, they engage in book studies to lead professional development for the DFHS faculty (Holden & Eargle 2025)
PDS Liaison	The USC-based faculty or staff assigned to collaborate with a PDS within the PDS Network
PDS Network	The abbreviated term for the Professional Development Schools Network at the University of South Carolina
PDS Partnership	The partnership between USC and DFHS as part of the PDS Network. This term is based on the National Association of Professional Development Schools’ (2021) definition of PDS Partner: “An entity involved in a PDS partnership, which can include but is not limited to P–12 schools/districts/divisions, universities, colleges, and other organizations” (p. 17)
