The line chart presents the number of S B I R awards by fiscal year on the horizontal axis and the number of awards on the vertical axis. The fiscal year axis runs from 1980 to 2025. The vertical axis shows values from zero to 500 awards. One line represents Phase one awards and the other represents Phase two awards. Phase one awards begin at around 100 in 1983, rise through the late 1980s and early 1990s, fluctuate between approximately 250 and 450 awards from the mid 1990s onward, and remain above 250 through 2023.
