The learning transformation process Refer to the image caption for details. The figure presents a three-stage learning sequence labelled Stage 1 Unfreezing Beliefs, Stage 2 Changing Beliefs and Stage 3 Refreezing Beliefs. Stage 1 shows the creation of motivation to change and includes steps described as disconfirmation of expectations, induction of learning anxiety and provision of psychological safety. Stage 2 shows the development of new attitudes and behaviours through new information and cognitive redefinition and lists identification with a role model, seeing things from another person’s point of view and scanning the environment for information relevant to a problem. Stage 3 shows the stabilising of changes and includes aligning and integrating new attitudes and behaviours and assessing whether others will accept and confirm them. A horizontal arrow labelled learning runs across the bottom.
