The flowchart begins with the research aim to examine how sustainability and circular economy requirements are translated into project-level decision-making in Australian construction. The next step is source identification, which includes policy and regulatory documents, academic literature, and industry and institutional reports. Following this, source screening and selection are performed based on inclusion criteria such as sustainability and circular economy, construction sector relevance, policy implementation focus, and Australian context. Exclusion criteria include non-construction sectors, purely technical material studies, and duplicates and irrelevant sources. The final analytical dataset consists of 32 sources, including federal policy documents, state policy documents, academic journal articles, and industry reports. Comparative policy analysis is conducted at state and federal levels. The final outcome is the development of a policy-to-practice translation framework.Research methodology
