A diagram of a proposed framework to improve the implementation of SIWES in Nigerian higher education institutions. The diagram illustrates a proposed framework to enhance the implementation of the Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) in Nigerian higher education institutions. The framework is supported by Piaget and Vygotsky's theories of development and learning. It begins with addressing perceived underlying hindrances facing the implementation of SIWES, particularly in engineering, technology, and environmental science disciplines. Inclusive training and adequate funding are emphasized for achieving quality SIWES outcomes. This leads to a change in the mindset of SIWES students, enabling them to participate actively and pass examinations to graduate. The improved implementation of SIWES in Nigerian higher education institutions enhances graduates' employability, industry performance, and excellence. Consequently, graduates' employable skills contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 8, and 9.
