These ECI scores have been split by component type to show differences in the rate of deterioration. The change of condition with time of these populations of components has been plotted as the difference between the average ECI scores for the population in each of the successive inspections. The markers have been shaded to indicate the comparison year (by the first year of the pairwise comparison). The size of the marker has been scaled by the number of components that it represents, such that outliers that represent only a small number of bridges can be readily identified.
