Major improvements in graphite heat exchangers. Following an extensive reappraisal of all aspects of the Cubic Block heat exchanger design Ralph Coidan Equipment Ltd have introduced their Mk2 range of Cubic Block heat exchangers. Machined from a solid block of graphite Ralph Coidan Equipment Ltd's new range of Mk2 Cubic Block heat exchangers are recommended for highly corrosive applications in the pharmaceutical, fine chemical and metal treatment industries since graphite is resistant to corrosion by all chemicals except for the strong oxidising agents. The design improvements basically comprise stronger graphite and steel components, fewer gaskets and increased bolting. These improvements lead to a doubling of the maximum working pressure from 5 bar g to 10 bar g with the added benefit of dramatically reduced installation times and maintenance costs. Cubic Block designs are available with heat transfer areas ranging from 1 to 60 m2. The standard units are designed to Pres‐sure Vessel codes with a maximum operating temperature of 170°C.
