Ultrasonic cleaning machines

Keywords Hale Hamilton, Kerry Ultrasonics, Cleaning, Ultrasonics

High-precision valve manufacturer Hale Hamilton Ltd has invested in three ultrasonic cleaning systems supplied by Kerry Ultrasonics Ltd (Plate 3). Ineffective cleaning would lead to valve failure, so the valves are finished to very high standards of cleanliness.

Plate 3 Three Kerry Ultrasonics cleaning systems have been installed by Hale Hamilton Ltd

Oxygen valve components are cleaned in the first system, a microsolve three-stage cleaner, using trichloroethylene (Trike). The first two stages of the machine are treated with ultrasonics, with a final rinse in the pure solvent vapour. This process removes grease before the valves are provisionally assembled and tested in clean room conditions.

The second system installed by Kerry is used to clean grease from stainless steel, ultra-high purity valves, before they are electropolished. Trike is used in this process, again for its degreasing properties. The components are checked visually for contamination, as any residual surface soil would result in poor electropolishing.
