Keywords: Conferences, Innovation, Radiation

RadTech Europe (RTE), the European Association for UV/EB technology, have announced that it will host the 2nd RTE Awards for Innovation Competition at its biennial RTE Conference & Exhibition to be held in Barcelona 18-20 October 2005. Designed to recognise and celebrate innovative utilisation of UV/EB technology in diverse markets, this event is intended to build upon the immense success of RTE's 1st Awards for Innovation Competition held in Berlin in November 2003.

The debut RTE Awards for Innovation Competition attracted a wide range of entrants from the European and worldwide radiation curing community. Open to all companies utilising UV/EB technology, the Competition was designed to recognise and encourage innovative companies which manufacture products using radiation curing technology, while promoting the future development of UV/EB technology by highlighting its many benefits, including improved product quality, faster processing, extremely low VOC emissions, etc.

RTE's 2005 Awards for Innovation Competition has been tuned to suit an expanding group of entrants and will follow the same theme and format as 2003's event. Striving to incorporate the current best use of UV/EB technology, entries eligible for the Competition must have been manufactured between 1 January 2004 and 31 July 2005 using UV or EB curable inks, coatings or adhesives, and/or produced in any printing, manufacturing or construction application which used radiation curing technology. Entrants from all sectors of the radiation curing industry worldwide are welcome. RTE membership is not required; however, RTE members are encouraged to nominate any entry they feel meets the criteria of the Competition.

Entries will once again be judged according to three categories:

  • 1.

    printing and packaging;

  • 2.

    automotive and specialty; and

  • 3.

    industrial coatings and adhesives.

Following careful consideration of the numerous expected entries in each of these categories, the competition judges, again respected experts from within the UV/EB community, will issue the prestigious RTE Innovation Award to three companies, one from each category.

To be announced at the Plenary Session of the three-day RTE Conference and presented at the Awards Dinner on 19 October 2005, the winners will receive prizes again consisting of stunning trophies, free one year RTE memberships, and recognition in a variety of trade magazines, technical publications and via the RTE media tools such as RadTech News magazine and RTE's web site, www.radtech-europe.com

“By creating the Awards for Innovation, RTE provides those recognised for outstanding achievement in the UV/EB industry with a prestigious sales and marketing tool: a hallmark that signals to its customers the winning company's contribution to manufacturing excellence achieved through the use of radiation curing technology”, commented RTE President Philippe Goethals.

The deadline for submission of entries is 31 July 2005.
