Protective Coatings Conference "Protecting the substrate and the environment" Call for Papers
Protective Coatings Conference “Protecting the substrate and the environment” Call for Papers
Mercure Hotel Amsterdam Aan de Amstel, 24-25 October 2007.
Scope of the Conference
This two day Conference will cover new developments in high-performance coatings for the protection of structural steel and concrete. The application areas will include onshore, offshore and marine. A major driving force for new developments in recent years has been the need to comply with more stringent health, safety and environmental legislation, in particular in the areas of solvent emissions and reactive pigments with lower toxicity profile. The challenge to the raw material supplier and the paint formulator is to find a substitution solution with a more environmentally friendly profile, without sacrificing the proven performance features of the traditional formulations. This challenge is more severe for the protective coatings sector than for less demanding segments of the coatings market, which explains the lower penetration of waterborne technology in this segment to date. The scope of the conference includes innovations in raw materials and coating formulations, and new developments in application equipment, testing and other services. It also encompasses recent academic research into the more fundamental aspects of protecting metals and concrete.
Purpose of the Conference
The main purpose of the Conference is to facilitate innovation, by bringing together experts involved in the supply chain of protective coatings. Personal participation provides an ideal opportunity to gain a clear understanding of the state-of-the-art technology and the potential for further development. The conference is also a means to meet colleagues with similar interests, establish new contacts and develop new working relationships on an international basis.
Speakers
Authors of new work describing research and developments in protective coatings are invited to submit papers for presentation at the Conference. The organisers are seeking a range of papers, from raw material suppliers to end-users. For guidance, please refer to the list of general themes and suggested topics.
