Shepherd Color introduces black IR-reflective pigment
The Shepherd Color Company introduced Dynamixe™ Black 30C940, an inorganic color pigment and part of the company's Arctic® pigment product range for use in coatings designed to maximize total solar reflectance (TSR) and minimize heat buildup.
The company says its Arctic line of pigments are designed to reflect the infrared portion of sunlight to minimize heat buildup and reduce the temperature of surfaces that are exposed to the sun, without limiting color choices. Roof coatings incorporating IR-reflective pigments have been found to keep interior spaces cooler and reduce energy demand.
The new product is described as a “stir-in” pigment that does not require conventional milling and dispersion processes for incorporation in coatings formulations.
