This is the first supplement to the 1948 edition of the Metals Handbook. New and additional material and information have been added to those sections of the 1948 edition in which the greatest advancements have been made. Twenty‐two author committees were appointed to compile the technical information for this volume, which is in three sections, ‘Metals and Applications,’ ‘Design and Application’ and ‘Processing and Testing.’
