Many important contributions to the knowledge of corrosion and its prevention and control have been made over the years by the Corrosion of Metals Group of the Chemical Research Laboratory, Teddington, Middlesex. In its early days the Group confined its attention almost wholly to fundamental studies on the mechanism of corrosion. More recently it has been concerned with more practical aspects. The following description of its current research programme has been taken from ‘ Chemistry Research, 1953,’ published by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research last month. Some of the work described was briefly noted in last month's issue of CORROSION TECHNOLOGY, pp. 77–78.
