IT is often mistakenly thought that the fight against corrosion is exclusively, or largely, a problem of maintenance. That this is not so is a point strongly emphasised by a Belgian expert, R. de Smet, who, in the May 1954 issue of Industrie Chimique Belge, surveys corrosion from a plant designer's viewpoint.
