Heat‐ and corrosion‐resistant alloy. At elevated temperature the creep characteristic of structural alloys is frequently of importance, and also their resistance to corrosion and oxidation, and, for example, by adding cobalt to an iron‐chromium‐nickel alloy, tungsten being present, the hot‐strength characteristic of the corrosion‐resistant alloy is enhanced. Furthermore, molybdenum, titanium and columbium are absent in the new alloy. A typical heat‐and corrosion‐resistant alloy is quoted (in per cent) as: (0.4–0.6) carbon, (0.5–2) silicon, (34–38) nickel, (25–28) chromium, (3–7) tungsten, (10–20) cobalt and the balance iron.
