Pumps and valves. Our feature article this month is devoted to the problems of protecting chemical plant against corrosion, and a section of particular interest is the discussion of the prevention of the corrosion of pumps and valves. We have always been suspicious of the ability of any pump or valve to withstand corrosion and, in fact, if we are ever asked for the perfect example of rapid corrosion we generally quote the sea‐water pump.
