Not a bad word. THE ACHEMA Exhibition, due to be held in Frankfurt on June 19–27, features a large section devoted to Materials Technology in which the chemical and structural behaviour of a wide range of materials, old and new, will be presented. It appears that the organisers have recognised the necessity of telling the whole truth about materials—the word ‘corrosion’ is much in evidence. They point out that new chemical developments frequently entail greater demands, chemical and mechanical, being made on materials, and in making these demands clear it is necessary to take into account the limitations as well as the advantages of both new and tried products.
