The Cass test is now widely used for the testing of decorative nickel/chrome electroplated deposits and is included in BSS 1224: 1965 and also in ASTM Specification B 368–62T. It is fairly rapid (16 or 24 hr. exposure times are usually specified) and the type of corrosion effects are similar to those encountered in industrial atmospheres.
