Identifying alloys by colour spot test. An article by R. V. Angermeir in Materials Protection, Sept. 1965, describes a portable non‐destructive test for identifying alloys containing nickel, copper, chromium and molybdenum. This is a rapid colour‐spot method which can be used for such operations as examining equipment which has lost—or which never had—its colour coding and for identifying materials to be welded, and scrap alloys, the constituents of which need to be checked quickly.
