Two alternative materials of construction, Worthite and 18/8/3 stainless steel, are used in the manufacture of a new range of centrifugal chemical pumps with outstanding resistance to many acids, alkalis and slurries. It is alleged that those made of Worthite are capable of handling sulphuric acid with a high degree of resistance, i.e. a corrosion loss of up to 0.005 in./yr.
