The corrosion resistance of a product is frequently related to the thickness of the electroplated deposit. Plated thickness is also critical to performance parameters such as durability, conductivity, hardness and lubricity, to name a few. Now, more than ever, the metallurgical properties and the thickness of electro‐deposited coatings are integral parts of the engineered design of the product and, as a result, thickness maxima and minima are frequently specified. Likewise, the cost effectiveness of a plated part and productivity of a plating process are a function of the plated thickness.
