The ion‐guard principle: Linked ion‐exchange gloss systems

Tradition dies hard we say; and perhaps in our conservative corrosion industry this is especially so in terms of die hard paint systems. By tradition we are moulded into thinking in terms of primer, undercoat and finish, each with their customary role to play. The primer or primers take care of the spread of corrosion, the undercoats or intermediate coats provide the required build, and lastly the finish which gives it the final cosmetic and protective properties. There is no doubt that this approach can give very good results but is it the most effective? Has technology produced anything which might allow us to be more efficient?
