Some of the azoles have been studied as inhibitors towards the corrosion of nickel in 4% HNO3 solution, using electrochemical polarization technique, at various concentrations of inhibitors and at different temperatures (25, 35, 45°C). All the inhibitors investigated were able to suppress both the anodic and cathodic processes appreciably, hence act as mixed inhibitors. Among these inhibitors, 2‐mercaptobenzothiazole was found to be the most effective inhibitor to control the corrosion of nickel in nitric acid solution.
