It is not generally realised that phenol formaldehyde resins, when supported on suitable inert materials, have very great resistance to chemical attack by acids and by solvents. Such materials are particularly well suited to a combination of corrosive and solvent conditions at elevated temperatures where it is normal to assume that only glass‐enamelled metal surfaces can be employed.
