Cathodic Protection of Buried Structures. Issued by the Joint Committee for the Coordination of the Cathodic Protection of Buried Structures. The above Committee was set up in December 1953 with the object of examining the possibility of harmful interference being caused by cathodic protection systems, and of determining how far it might be desirable to regulate the use of this technique in the common interest. The Committee is a conference of the principal operators (mainly public utilities) of extensive underground services. Because of lack of complete information about the effects of potential on corrosion rates and about certain other matters it has not yet been possible to make a firm recommendation on permissible values but provisional working figures have been agreed to by the bodies concerned.
