Purpose

This paper aims to study the effects of different negative voltage duty cycle on the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of ion plating micro arc oxidation composite coatings, aiming to broaden the application scenarios of 45# steel.

Design/methodology/approach

The surface and cross-sectional morphology of the samples were characterized by scanning electron microscope. The friction corrosion resistance was studied by open circuit potential, polarization curve, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and salt spray test. The wear resistance of the film was studied using a friction and wear instrument.

Findings

The results show that the samples with negative voltage duty cycle of 100% have the best corrosion resistance and wear resistance.

Originality/value

The effect of different negative voltage duty cycle on corrosion resistance and wear resistance of micro arc oxidation combined with ion plating aluminum coating was studied.
