Depositing by Electrophoresis THE electrophoretic deposition of aluminium is likely to affect tremendously the pattern of the metal finishing industry. Now that the method patented by the British Iron and Steel Research Association is being developed commercially it would seem to be a strong competitor to hot‐dip aluminium coating. Although aluminium powder is some 50% more expensive than ingot, a thin even coating is achieved. However, B.I.S.R.A. do not consider it likely to be competitive with tinplate since, they say, it will probably always be more expensive.
