Sulzer Metco, a Leader in surface coating solutions and equipment, provides manufacturers with many options for maximizing the performance, efficiency and reliability of new and existing components.
New laser cladding systems for accelerated applications
Sulzer Metco recently launched MetcoClad™-Systems, which are laser cladding systems that can be customized to meet individual manufacturer needs for processing a variety of component sizes, geometries and weights. As the only single-source supplier of laser cladding systems combining material, equipment and application know-how, the company offers manufacturers a single point of contact for their entire system, which expedites the cladding process. Combining 20 years of cladding experience with long-standing thermal spray systems design expertise, the tailored system ensures optimum wear and corrosion resistance for both new part manufacturing and component repair. Sulzer Metco provides full application development support, technician training, production ramp-up and after-sales services, ensuring a quick start up. The companys laser cladding systems also possess three-dimensional (3D) geometry capabilities, including CAM software tools for customized applications.
Tailored materials to facilitate repeated welding quality
Sulzer Metco also offers a complete portfolio of laser cladding powders, which are highly reproducible, allowing technicians to consistently repeat welding quality and expedite production. The companys plasma transferred arc (PTA) powder products improve the function and service life of components exposed to harsh corrosive and wear conditions. For repairing worn components, Sulzer Metcos powders are formulated to match the substrate chemistry of a component, creating a durable coating layer highly resistant to environmental stress. These include Amdry™ superalloy materials, which are gas atomized for consistent composition and repeatable results.
In addition, PlasmaDur™ hard-facing products protect parts exposed to high abrasion, erosion and impact wear for a variety of industries, such as mining, oil and gas exploration and drilling, agriculture, and brick and masonry production. PlasmaDur™ is tailored for specific earth formations, silts and gravel content for dependable protection against corrosion and wear erosion. Sulzer Metco also offers its WokaDur™ line of weld hardface products, which can be adapted to meet precise application requirements for premium wear and abrasion resistance in high-stress environments. These carbide-containing products include weld wire, rods and electrodes, and can be used in manual (stick) and arc welding processes.
New thermal spray equipment
Offering one of the most extensive lines of thermal spray coating materials and auxiliary products in the industry, Sulzer Metco recently launched the SinplexPro™, the first cascading arc plasma (CAP) gun that can integrate seamlessly into a customers existing spray system. This gives manufacturers a low-risk investment that will not disrupt current production. The SinplexPro™ is a single-cathode gun with a fixed cascaded arc, enabling users to spray significantly more material in less time, often with higher deposition efficiencies. The guns highly consistent plume temperature and velocity profile results in an overall reduction in material costs and processing times, boosting process efficiency by 60-170 percent over conventional spray guns.
Sulzer Metcos thermal spray equipment portfolio also includes electric arc wire, atmospheric plasma and controlled atmosphere, high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) (gas and liquid fuel), combustion wire and powder, and cold spray.
Brazing materials for critical applications
Sulzer Metcos portfolio of brazing materials, including powders, pastes and tapes, are designed for critical and high temperature applications. The wide range of braze filler metals meet highly specific requirements for a variety of gap sizes, ductility needs, joint strength and corrosion properties. Standard and superalloy materials are available to facilitate wide-gap joining requirements. Sulzer Metco also offers activated diffusion alloys for the surface and crack repair of costly superalloy castings.
