North West Water's new 13½km× 700mm OD pipeline running from its Ellesmere Port effluent treatment works to the ICI power station at Rock Savage, Cheshire, has been protected with Winn & Coales' Denso products at flanged joints and pressure vents. A main contractor for the project was Rotherham-based A. Hak who chose the Denso materials following approval from the engineers to the contract, Bechtel Water Technology.
The pipeline carries the industrial water supply mainly for cooling purposes to the new ICI power station being built by InterGen.
The Winn & Coales'materials used by A. Hak to give long-life protection to the joints were Denso Paste, Denso Tape and Densyl mastic blankets. The latter were used to soften the contours of the joints before the application of the Denso tape.
