A new technical brochure and supporting data sheets on its range of clean tubes and fittings for high purity gas and liquid systems has been produced by AB Sandvik Calamo (Plate 2).
The eight-page brochure describes the company's range of seamless and welded clean tubes and fittings suitable for use in the semi-conductor, pharmaceutical and food industries as well as laboratory installations. In order to meet the many different industry requirements, Sandvik Calamo has developed a range of production processes for surface cleaning and electropolishing. Calamo's top quality PQE materials are electropolished to surface levels of Ra 0.2 µm or better, cleaned and packed in a clean room environment.
The product manufacturing programme includes metric and imperial tubes with dimensions from 6mm to 114.3mm(1/4in. to 4in.) outside diameter and there is a complementary range of tees,elbows, reducers and end caps. Coaxial tubes and fittings are also available.

A key benefit for Sandvik Calamo is its position as a member of the Sandvik Group of Companies. Tube production units within the Group are important suppliers of "mother" tubes used in the manufacturer of Sandvik Calamo's high purity tubes and fittings. This means that the many steps in the production process from the steel melt to the preparation of the final tube surface are closely controlled and documented.
Sandvik Calamo also benefits from Sandvik Steel's R & D capability. In addition to the standard stainless steel type AISI 316L, a cleaner steel with low manganese and sulphur contents has been developed recently to meet demands for even higher steel cleanliness and lower impurity levels.
The supporting data sheets which have been prepared with the new brochure contain detailed information about product dimensions, steel grades, surface type and finishes available.
