Interactive CD-ROM instrumentation fittings guide

Keywords CD-ROM,Pipes, Tubes

Parker Hannifin has produced a CD-ROM guide to tube, pipe and/SO conversion fittings, which automates the selection process and even helps designers optimise the tubing system. The powerful tool can improve the efficiency of the design, purchasing, installation and maintenance phases of any project involving fluid instrumentation.

Providing an interactive and error-free approach to selection, users can access tube and pipe fittings data in three ways: by part number, by browsing component categories, or from a design-oriented perspective by starting with a shape or component such as an elbow joint or tee and then specifying end connections, sizes and other parameters to reach the final part code. The part is displayed and modified graphically throughout the process, and the final drawing can be printed to form part of project documentation. Chosen parts can be added to a request for quotation or order form, which can be printed, e-mailed and filed for reference.

Over a year in the making,Parker's unique software dubbed inPHorm also includes a powerful interactive tubing specification tool. This allows users to obtain typical system pressure ratings, by feeding in media temperature and tube wall thickness parameters, so that they can make informed choices about the optimum price/performance ratio of the associated tubing system.

The new tool is believed to be one of the most comprehensive reference works on tube fittings in the world, and includes many thousands of different parts which can be configured from around 250 basic component types in conjunction with the choice of sizes, materials, end connections, and other selectable parameters.

The CD-ROM runs on a PC with a 486 CPU or better, and Windows 3.1/3.11/95/NT3.51 or 4.
