A brand new product from Elcometer Instruments, the specialist manufacturer of coating measurement and testing instruments, has been added to their materials testing product group. The Elcometer 220 Covermeter determines the position and direction of reinforcement bars located in concrete and identifies safe spots for drilling. The 220 Covermeter also measures the thickness of the concrete covering reinforcement bars.
The Elcometer 220 Covermeter will, it is believed, save time and money, and measures non-destructively. It is a very user friendly instrument with easy to use controls and a large digital display. The case is water resistant (IP65 rating)and comes complete with its own carry case and battery charger (Plate2).

For those customers who also need to measure the paint or powder thickness on rebars, Elcometer has recently launched a special probe for their 355 range of gauges, specifically for ribbed rebar.
