BP and DuPont sign pipe coating agreement

BP Chemicals and DuPont Packaging and Industrial Polymers have signed a marketing agreement to supply the European pipe-coating market with BP's Rigidex polyethylene and DuPont Fusabond^® adhesive copolymer.

This alliance will deliver innovative multi-layer solutions to meet the changing needs of the pipe-coating market. The global experienceof DuPont in pipe-coating adhesive technology,together with BP's global Rigidex position make the combination a significant force in the pipe-coating market.

BP's Rigidex will be supplied from Grangemouth, Scotland, with DuPont Fusabond supplied from manufacturing bases in Sarnia, Ontario (Canada) and Sabine, Texas (USA).

Although the supply agreement initially focuses on the European market, co-operation between the two companies is envisaged in other areas by agreement. BP Chemicals will be responsible for sales and technical service of both products in Europe,delivering the sales via its extensive sales network, using its 25 year experience of selling Rigidex into the pipe sector.
