A full line of platinum clad anodes that are available from stock in rod, wire, and woven mesh configurations for a wide range of electroplating and impressed current cathodic protection applications is being introduced by Anomet Products, Inc. of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, USA (Plate 1).

Anomet reports that its platinum clad anodes feature a complete metallurgical bond of the metals, are dimensionally stable, ductile, and insoluble; which makes them cleaner than soluble anodes. Supplied from stock as wire and rod 0.8-20mm OD and as woven mesh up to 610mm wide, these platinum clad titanium and platinum clad niobium anodes can have a copper core and the platinum thickness can be modified to customer specifications.

Stated to be suitable for electrochemical and surface finishing applications, including small internal surfaces which are easily reached by small wire, Anomet Platinum Clad Anodes have a copper core to simplify electrical connections and optimize conductivity for more uniform plating. In cathodic protection applications of storage tanks and bridges they reduce power requirements.
