Industrial washers made of composite titanium materials have been launched by French manufacturer NewpacFinishing ­ they are believed to reduce energy consumption of those using stainless steel washers by 50 percent, because the treatment enclosure is completely sealed and insulated.

Newpac's new washers will reportedly also cost less ­ between 15-40 percent cheaper than current stainless steel washers.

According to Newpac,stainless steel washers use technology that goes back to the 1950s, and are subject to corrosion as they use many accessories that are made with ordinary steel, like fans, manifolds, suction nozzles, and external bearings. However,Newpac washers contain resins which are frequently used in the storage of aggressive and corrosive materials, and are reinforced by a titanium and ceramic matrix. The washers are said to come with a lifetime guarantee of performance.

Newpac washers also offer standard parts based on a modular design ­ the user can modify,disassemble, and reassemble the entire washer.

Companies that are already using Newpac's new composite washers include Thomson, Toyota, Philips, and Peugeot. NewpacFinishing are looking for distributors in the UK. Newpac tunnels have been tested and certified by Underwriter Laboratories in the USA and TUV Rheinland of Germany.
