Keywords Coatings, Corrosion resistance,KCH

A two-coat, resin-based coating system, Ceilcote 387 Hybricote, which is considered ideal for applications in the pharmaceutical, power, aircraft, chemical and waste treatment industries, has been introduced into Europe by KCH Keramchemie (UK)Ltd. Applied at thicknesses of 1.0mm, the new coating is stated to be fully resistant to aggressive chemicals such as methylene chloride, tetra hydrofuran,n-methyl-pyrrolidinone, acetone and other similar compounds.

According to KCH, this new high performance hybrid resin coating attains a high degree of crosslink density at room temperature, thus providing outstanding chemical resistance to a broad range of acids, alkalis and organic solvents without the need to post-cure. Reinforced with overlapping flake fillers, it can be applied to steel and concrete substrates.

To date, installations that have used Ceilcote 387 Hybricote include solvent storage tank lining, secondary containment linings in pharmaceutical plants, and aircraft paint stripping facilities where an aggregate has been incorporated into the coating system to provide skid resistance.
