£400,000 power station contract

Corrocoat has won a major contract worth in excess of £400,000 for the supply of a series of 66in. diameter butterfly valves. The valves are destined for use within the cooling water system at Dungeness "B" Power Station for British Energy Generation Ltd.
The Corrocoat name is more often associated with the development and manufacture of high performance corrosion-resistant coatings. However, the organisation is thought to be one of the few remaining engineering companies in the UK able to manufacture this kind of critical equipment.
The valves now being produced for British Energy Generation Ltd are manufactured to Corrocoat's own design, featuring cast iron bodies and cast steel blades.
Operating in a sea water environment, the valves will be subject to aggressive corrosion attack. To combat this, the Corrocoat design features stainless steel components produced to the company's own specification. The valves will also be coated in-house, using Corrocoat's own corrosion-resistant materials.
The first phase of the contract, totalling eight valves, was completed earlier this year, with the second phase scheduled for completion during the year 2000.
