'Nuts and bolts' of hot dip galvanizing
Keywords Galvanizing, Fasteners
The "nuts and bolts" of hot dip galvanizing was a feature of Fastener Fair 1999 which was held recently at Castle Donington, UK.
Taking part for the third successive year, Wedge Group Galvanizing highlighted some of the work undertaken for the fastenings and fixings industry. On show was an array of nuts, bolts and washers of all sizes, from M80 right down to M8. Chair screws for securing railway sleepers and motorway crash barrier tensioner-bolts were also on display. Also on show was a range of other types of fastenings which plants in the Wedge Group galvanize day in and day out- a process that gives the metal a long maintenance-free life.
Background displays on the stand illustrated case histories including Wedge's work for the Lan Tau Bridge in Hong Kong and how the company treated 120 tonnes of nuts and bolts that support Blackpool's "high thrills" Pepsi Max Ride.
