UK-based contractors Pipeline Induction Heat (PIH) have recently formed a joint venture with cable-lifting specialists Ludescher, of Austria.

"Diversification remains one of the cornerstones of PIH's marketing strategy", said PIH Managing Director Phil Bond. He continued: "PIH are constantly exploring new ways to complement the specialist field joint coating and heat treatment services that our company provides to main pipeline contractors. Under this co-operation agreement with Ludescher, PIH will assist with world-wide marketing activities and onsite project management. Ludescher will provide the specialist equipment and know-how".

Cable lift systems are primarily used in poor access mountainous regions, to allow easy movement of heavy plant and construction equipment in site locations which would otherwise prove impossible.
