Applied Rubber Linings wins moulding patent

Keywords Applied Rubber Linings, Moulding, Linings, Rubber

It has recently been announced that Applied Rubber Linings Ltd has been awarded a moulding patent with potential wide ranging applications. The initial application being exploited by the company for the benefit of its customers is to line flow meter tubes, which had all previously been lined using a handcrafted method.

The new technique, developed over the last few years by Robert Travell, technical and production director, is thought to have provided a breakthrough in the lining industry and to be particularly beneficial when applied to the lining of these flow meter tubes. As Robert Travell says "This technique enables us to produce a much better quality product and has been warmly welcomed by our key customers who are also working with us on further developments based on the patented system."

Applied Rubber Linings is a family firm run by Keith and Robert Travell who took the firm over in 1993 when their father, who founded the company in 1974,retired. The firm is very proud of its heritage and insists on operating on a very traditional "customer friendly" basis, coupled with an up to date commercial policy to lay strong foundations for the future. Within this policy the company has been rigorously pursuing a policy of technical research and development, of which the moulding patent is the first to bear fruit.

This is a forward thinking firm, and apart from direct development work to improve both products and production techniques, it is also continually seeking ways in which the rubber lining process can provide benefits within industry on a broader scale. The wide ranging benefits of applying a rubber lining/coating to items of process plant include protection from corrosion, wear and abrasion resistance, electrical insulation, noise reduction and product protection.

Keith Travell notes: "All the time we come across new applications for rubber lining within British industry, and there must still be production and development engineers out there tearing their hair out to solve a problem for which rubber lining is the perfect answer. As far as our new patent is concerned we are, of course, researching other potential uses already, with the intention of exploiting this technology in other industrial applications."
