Steel industry Travelling Scholarship winner visits USA

The first Wire Link Travelling Scholarship Award was presented recently to Simon Mounsey, a shift leader at Tinsley Wire in Sheffield.
As part of his prize Simon attended the recent international Wire Conference in Nashville, Tennessee and then visited eight wire companies across the USA during his two-week visit.
The Wire Link Travelling Scholarship is funded by the Worshipful Company of Tinplate Workers alias Wire Workers in partnership with the Wire Association International (based in Connecticut, USA) with arrangements organised by the Steel Industry NTO based in Sheffield.
The aim of the award is to widen experience amongst young managers in the wire industry supply chain and encourage the exchange of practical working experience. It is hoped that the award will be repeated every other year and that a young manager from the US wire industry will travel to the UK in the intervening year.
