Custom fitted three-dimensional foil liners

Keywords Protective Packaging, Corrosion prevention, Foil, Linings

Corrosion problems when shipping machinery, engine parts and electronics can now reportedly be solved by packing in Barrier Foil to give complete climatic protection. Barrier Foil is described as a flexible barrier with the lowest known water vapour transmission rate. Protective Packaging informs us that industrial polythene lets water vapour and aggressive gasses seep through allowing corrosion to occur, but a small amount of desiccant inside a heat sealed barrier foil bag will ensure the relative humidity stays well below 40 per cent (the start point for corrosion)

Barrier Foils are quite simply a laminate of polyester/aluminium/polythene and can be supplied in roll form or made to measure flat or three-dimensional type bags to suit the customers requirements.

The manufacturers believe that Barrier Foil can save on packaging costs because the amount of desiccant used is reduced dramatically when compared with polythene. Packaging case quality can reportedly be reduced as the contents only need to be protected physically not climatically, and case liners such as kraft union can be removed except for the lid.
