For more than 30 years, Control of Pipeline Corrosion written by A.W. Peabody, has been one of the most trusted resources in the field of pipeline corrosion. An index and glossary are also included.

The second edition also includes a free companion CD-ROM. The CD is a fully searchable and printable version of the Peabody book so readers always have access to the information. Additionally, the CD includes interactive equations,a referenced standards section, and field examples of cathodic protection design not included in the printed book.

The book was originally published in 1967 by Sam Peabody and is said to be the most quoted and used document in the corrosion industry, for pipeline corrosion control and testing. When the original book was published, specific criteria for cathodic protection for underground pipelines were still under evaluation and consideration. Not until 1969 was the first documented standard approved by NACE International on RPO169. The depth and vision that Peabody incorporated in the first version of the book appears to have stood the test of time.

In our opinion this revised version of the 1967 book is not an attempt to make radical changes to the original document. Much of the original text and concepts remain intact. The publishers attempt, however, to incorporate original traditional elements of the book with updates and expanded discussions on equipment, testing techniques and criteria, coatings, survey methods, and data analysis.

An integral part of this revision is the CD-ROM mention above, it contains formulas of key design calculations, case examples of corrosion control designs which provide a step-by-step overview of how to design various components of cathodic protection systems.

A companion workbook is also available for a small additional fee. Peabody's Control of Pipeline Corrosion Workbook was compiled by a leading professor of corrosion technology, Jerome Edinger of Kilgore College. The workbook helps to ensure readers are well-versed in the latest pipeline corrosion protection strategies.
