SkillWELD 2002

As a result of the success of SkillWELD 2000 and the enthusiasm of those who took part, it has been decided to hold the competition again during 2001/02.

SkillWELD is a welding competition open to trainees who have been undergoing training for a minimum of six months and who, in the opinion of their instructor, are producing work of a good visual standard in line with BS EN 287.

There will be regional competitions held in centres throughout the UK. The regional winners will go forward to a SkillWELD National Final to be held in April 2002 at TWI, Great Abington. Successful finalists will be asked to represent the welding industry at the UK Skills Show to be held in Manchester in November 2002. After further selection, one of the national finalists may be selected to represent the UK welding industry at the Skills Olympics to be held in Switzerland in 2003.
